Budgies need love too

It is not uncommon to see a budgie in its cage with a food dish, water dish, ladder and mirror and no human interaction apart from being fed and having the cage cleaned.

Did you know budgies are parrots too? not only are they parrots but they like their bigger family members love human interaction.

They also have the ability to speak over 1000 words.

So next time you come across that typical budgie with his ladder and mirror maybe you could let his owners know just what an amazing creature he has the ability to be!.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE RELEASING A PARROT INTO THE WILD

The popularity of parrots as pets of late is seeing many unwanted parrots simply let back into the wild, which is all good in theory but not good in practise. For the simple reason that many of these birds are hand reared, hand raised or are simply unable to fend for themselves in the wild.

As they are used to depending on a human to feed it, give it water and give it a warm place to live. Sadly many birds that are released from situations where they do depend on a human die within days. Either victim to a cat or dog or because they starve.

Here at Parrot and Reptile Haven we aim to be a place for unwanted birds to come to and be looked after.
